This is a 1964 Cannes Film Festival favorite from acclaimed Polish director Andrzej Wajda. Set in 19th century Russia, the film follows a farmer's wife who has a steamy affair with a farmhand while her husband is away. After her father-in-law discovers the affair, she kills him. When her husband returns, the wife pleads with her new lover to help her kill her husband.
