Jazz pioneer Sidney Bechet collaborated with many icons of 20th-century American music, including Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Bessie Smith. This engaging portrait retraces the soprano saxophonist's life, from his New Orleans youth through his rise to musical fame in New York, London and Paris. Bechet's legacy is touted by a host of friends and family, as well as more famous names such as Wynton Marsalis and Woody Allen.
