Laxmi (Jayapradha) and Kumar (Rishi Kapoor) are a couple that perform together on stage. When a jealous suitor named Vijay (Shashi Kapoor) destroys their personal and professional relationship, the couple divorces. Though it takes years to recover, eventually Laxmi remarries and vows to protect her stepdaughter Lalita at all costs. Will the return of Vijay once again threaten the devoted wife and mother's domestic bliss?
