The incomparable Josephine Baker arrives on the scene with Siren of the Tropics, her debut film first released in the 1920s. As Papitou -- a woman from the tropics who gives her heart to a Parisian man named Andre, whom she later discovers is married -- Baker is heartbreakingly honest and true. Instead of falling apart, Papitou rises from the ashes, a phoenix who knows no defeat. Extras include a featurette and documentary on Baker.
