Carolyne Lovejoy (Diahann Carroll) practices proper conduct in the house she shares with youngest sister Sissy (Irene Cara), but when liberated sister Freida (Rosalind Cash), a single mom, rejoins the family, the trappings of righteous behavior are stretched tight. In this drama written by Maya Angelou, Sissy wants to be an ice skater and Freida acts the swinging divorcée; Carolyne objects to both but keeps her own misdeeds hidden.
