Centered on a hyper-dysfunctional family beset with issues of resentment, homophobia, debauchery, incest and even bestiality, director Francois Ozon's (8 Women) provocative black comedy undermines every convention its generic title might suggest. When the father of a typical middle-class family brings home a pet rat, the simple act kicks off a disastrous chain of events that threatens to destroy the lives of the unassuming suburbanites.
