Slaughterhouse-Five

  (1972)
Kurt Vonnegut's multilayered novel makes it to the big screen in fine fettle as a haunting, poetic and funny elegy involving Billie Pilgrim (Michael Sacks), who survives the horrific firebombing of Dresden at the end of World War II. Pilgrim subsequently lives out simultaneous past lives as a POW and a well-loved zoo resident on the planet Tralfamadore, and a present-day life as an aging optometrist from New York.
