Slightly Honorable

  (1940)
Greed, graft and corruption foul the big city in director Tay Garnett's uproarious, slapstick murder mystery (which percolates with sexual innuendo and finely etched performances). Framed for the murder of party girl Alma Brehmer (Claire Dodd), straight-arrow lawyer John Webb (Pat O'Brien) crusades to prove his innocence while encountering all manner of hilariously crooked metropolitan denizens. Broderick Crawford and Eve Arden costar.
