Based on John Le Carré's best-selling espionage novel, this BBC drama delves into the dark world of preeminent British secret agent George Smiley (Alec Guinness), who has emerged from retirement for one final shot at catching Russian archenemy Karla (Patrick Stewart). Smiley traverses Europe, encounters poker-faced double agents and ultimately calls Karla's bluff in this series that also stars Michel Lonsdale, Mario Adorf and Michael Gough.
