Paul Verhoeven directs this absorbing drama -- which is based on true events -- about six young college students each affected differently by World War II. After Adolph Hitler invades Holland, aristocratic student Erik Lanshof (Rutger Hauer) escapes to England, where he sheds his apathy to become a fighter for the resistance. Meanwhile, Erik's five best friends encounter romance, death and espionage. Jeroen Krabbé co-stars as Erik's friend, Gus.
