Born in a shantytown shed to a virgin (Pauline Malefane), Jesus (Andile Kosi) embarks on a quest across the African "kingdom of Judea" to spread a gospel of peace among a growing following of disciples, but his acts soon provoke the wrath of the government. Director Mark Dornford-May transplants the New Testament to a modern South African township in this stirring, music-filled fable, an official selection at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.
