Winning an Oscar for Best Music Score and a Golden Globe for Best Picture, this biopic tells the story of Hungarian pianist Franz Liszt (Dirk Bogarde), exploring the effect his reckless romantic affairs had on his musical career. Trying to rid himself of scandal, Liszt leaves his married mistress, Countess Marie (Geneviève Page), to go on a concert tour. But when he meets the married Russian Princess Carolyne (Capucine), he's smitten once again.
