Nashville singer-songwriter Doc (Willie Nelson) discovers that he's bound to a shady contract with devious record exec Rodeo Rocky (Richard C. Sarafian). Desperate to get out of the bogus deal, Doc enlists the help of an old friend, Blackie Buck (Kris Kristofferson), and a somewhat unstable singer named Gilda (Leslie Ann Warren) to carry out his plan. Will the mismatched trio be able to pull it off?
