In this likable comedy helmed by Alan J. Pakula, reluctantly divorced Phil Potter (Burt Reynolds) moves to Boston, where he meets romance-wary schoolteacher Marilyn Holmberg (Jill Clayburgh). Phil's charms ultimately win Marilyn over, but before he commits himself, his capricious ex-wife, Jessica (Candice Bergen), appears on the scene and reignites his feelings for her. Will Jessica derail Phil's promising new relationship?
