Step Across the Border

Part performance film, part documentary, this unique program follows improvisational musician Fred Frith and his fellow artists. Creating music from whatever instruments or other objects are at hand, the band fuses a variety of world influences. The filmmakers, meanwhile, bring the improvisational style to the visuals, with performance and rehearsal footage as well as a cryptic series of unrelated images.
