Offered their freedom if they succeed in their mission, space cowboys -- and convicts -- Stingray Sam (writer-director Cory McAbee) and the Quasar Kid (Crugie) team up to rescue a kidnapped girl in this far-out musical sci-fi Western. Comic, surreal and relentlessly original, McAbee's genre-defying feature is a study in postmodern filmmaking. David Hyde Pierce narrates, and McAbee's band, American Astronaut, provides the music.
