On the eve of her graduation from the military academy, pilot prodigy Sara Werec's world is turned upside down when she learns that her brother, Ralph, has betrayed the Union and become a commander for the menacing Deague. Guilty by association, Sara is stripped of her rightful place as a Strain pilot and is forced to uncover the truth about her brother's disloyalty from the bottom of the Union's military ranks.
