Stravinsky and the Ballets Russes: Le Sacre Du Printemps / The Firebird

Valery Gergiev leads the Orchestra and Ballet of the Mariinsky Theatre through the original Nijinsky version of Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" and "The Firebird" in an evening celebrating the 1909 Paris debut of the Ballets Russes. Millicent Hodson painstakingly restored the original choreography of the long-forgotten "The Rite of Spring," which was wildly controversial at its 1913 premiere. Ekaterina Kondaurova stars as the Firebird.
