In an early role, a young Richard Gere stars as a state trooper assigned to an elite team tasked with diffusing a gangland drug war and bringing the Mafiosi behind it to justice. Rounding out the strike force are Don Blakely and Cliff Gorman. Capturing the gritty feel of mid-1970s New York City, this crime drama, originally made as a pilot for an ultimately unrealized TV series, delivers solid performances and realistic action sequences.
