Academy Award winner Maggie Smith stars in this stirring adaptation of Tennessee Williams's poetic one-act play centered around the mysterious death of a young gay artist. Fearing the revelation of her son's homosexuality at the hands of his unstable cousin Catherine (Natasha Richardson), millionairess Mrs. Veneble (Smith) invites a psychiatrist (Rob Lowe) to her home in hopes of persuading him to lobotomize Catherine to ensure her silence.
