When 17-year-old Susan Slade (Connie Stevens) ends up pregnant as the result of a torrid affair with a mountain climber (Grant Williams), her mother (Dorothy McGuire) plans to pass the child off as hers after whisking Susan off to Guatemala to have the baby. But complications ensue when Susan attracts a pair of handsome suitors (Bert Convy and Troy Donahue) who don't know she's living a lie. Lloyd Nolan plays Susan's caring father.
