Sweet Bird of Youth

Directed by Richard Brooks, this atmospheric drama stars Paul Newman as handsome cad Chance Wayne, who returns to his Southern hometown with faded movie star Alexandra Del Lago (Geraldine Page) in tow. Though he romances Alexandra believing she's his ticket to Hollywood fame, Chance seeks out his ex-girlfriend (Shirley Knight) and soon runs afoul of her moralistic politician father (Ed Begley, in an Oscar-winning supporting performance).
