Hoping to jump-start his acting career, an opportunist romances an aging movie star in this adaptation of Tennessee Williams's play. Chance Wayne (Mark Harmon) seduces fading actress Alexandre Del Lago (Elizabeth Taylor), who refuses to let the charlatan break off their relationship when he's through using her. Chance also faces the wrath of powerful politician Tom Finley (Rip Torn), the father of the actor's hometown girlfriend.
