Two lonely souls find each other, fall in love and face life's challenges in this romance. Troubled by the notion that she caused her gangster husband's death, florist Rose (Sophia Loren) gives up on love. Dashing Frank (Anthony Quinn) falls in love with Rose, but must convince her to let go of her fears. Rose's heart opens, and her love for Frank begins to bloom, but the pair must deal with Frank's disapproving daughter and Rose's runaway son.
