Clumsy bellboy Stanley Belt (Jerry Lewis) becomes a celebrity in this comedy. After a money-making star dies unexpectedly, the dead man's managers (Everett Sloane, Phil Harris, Keenan Wynn, Peter Lorre, John Carradine and Ina Balin) decide to manufacture a new cash cow. Stanley is trained as a singer and, despite his spastic behavior, records a hit single, winning a spot on "The Ed Sullivan Show." But there's one huge problem: The show is live.
