Unable to speak, Helen Capel (Dorothy McGuire) has lived most of her life walled off in silence. Still, she's managed to make peace with her disability -- until she is stalked by a serial killer who preys on physically impaired women. Suddenly, Capel must find a way to let others know she's in danger, but how? Co-star Ethel Barrymore was nominated for an Oscar for her role as Capel's wealthy, ailing employer.
