Happily married to Sam (Jimi Mistry), Alice (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is surprised to receive an anonymous valentine, which she immediately assumes is from her husband. What she doesn't realize is that it's actually from Sam's best friend (Dougray Scott), who's secretly in love with her. Carrying on the charade by pretending she's Sam's secret admirer, Alice writes her way into her husband's private life. But will her love notes lead to heartache?
