Obsessed with understanding the criminal mind, brilliant psychiatrist Dr. Clitterhouse (Edward G. Robinson) conducts an experiment by robbing a safe. When he's interrupted by a group of thieves led by Rocks Valentine (Humphrey Bogart), he decides to infiltrate the gang. Soon, he's planning a series of big heists with the gangsters, but just how far will he go for the sake of his research? Anatole Litvak directs this comedic gem.
