The life of factory worker Marcel Perrignon (Robert Dhéry) changes, though not necessarily for the better, when he purchases a Cadillac convertible from a widow determined to prevent the "American beauty" from falling into the hands of her dearly departed's mistress. Mishaps and misperceptions abound in this Golden Globe-nominated farce as Marcel adjusts to his new standing as owner of a prestigious automobile.
