In his favorite yet "most austere work," visionary filmmaker Derek Jarman juxtaposes dreamlike imagery with 14 Shakespeare sonnets, as read by Judi Dench, to celebrate the love affair between two men (Paul Reynolds and Phillip Williamson). Set against the experimental electronic music of Coil, words and images powerfully convey the joy and beauty, torment and pain of love.
