No portrait of the Appalachian people would be complete without a heaping helping of their music. This three-part PBS series on the region includes plenty, combining the words and music of artists such as Loretta Lynn with interviews with scholars. Filled with heart-stopping scenery and heartbreaking stories, the presentation includes Johnny Cash's last filmed interview as well as appearances by Rosanne Cash, Little Jimmy Dickens and Ricky Skaggs.
