The Ballad of the Sad Café

Based on Carson McCullers's book, this Southern Gothic tale centers on Miss Amelia (Vanessa Redgrave), the eccentric owner of a small-town café. The domineering matron essentially rules the town, but everything changes for Miss Amelia with the arrival of two men -- her estranged husband (Keith Carradine) and a hunchback who claims to be her cousin (Cork Hubbert) -- who threaten to reveal her mysterious past. Rod Steiger also stars.
