Just released from prison, criminal mastermind George the Brain (Sid James) and his inept gang of bank robbers head straight to the spot where they hid their loot, only to find that a police station has been built around the tree in which they stashed the haul. Determined to get their money, the gang moves into a nearby apartment building and plots ridiculous ways to retrieve the money without arousing any suspicions.
