The Bird People in China

This visual allegory of desperation and longing from director Takashi Miike chronicles the adventure of a Japanese businessman sent on a trip to a Chinese village where he discovers a girl with a haunting voice and a secret that allows men to fly. Environmentalism, human value and the perception of wealth are among the themes explored in this soul-searching drama.
