In this engaging Disney adventure directed by television veteran Vincent McEveety, young Lonnie McNeil (Johnny Whitaker) befriends a misfit canine and decides with his friend Text Tomlin (George Spell) to train the animal as a champion bird dog. Can the boys beat the odds and turn the pooch into a prize winner? Earl Holliman and Pat Crowley play Lonnie's parents, and Godfrey Cambridge shines in a lively supporting turn.
