Hardworking Professor Griggs (Phillip Hubbard) has a tough time supporting his wife (Margaret McWade) and their daughter, Amelia (Claire Windsor). When Amelia takes ill, Mrs. Griggs steals a chicken from her next-door neighbor to nourish her daughter. After she recovers, Amelia returns to work early so she can pay for the food. A possible way out of the family's financial predicament comes when a rich suitor declares his love for Amelia.
