The Connection
(1962)|
Director Shirley Clarke uses a combination of actors (including William Redfield, Roscoe Lee Browne and Warren Finnerty) and "real" people to play a group of junkies waiting around a flophouse for their fix in this American New Wave classic. Interspersed among them are some topflight jazz musicians -- such as pianist Freddie Redd and sax man Jackie McLean -- who occasionally pick up their instruments and jam.
