Saeed Jaffrey, Zohra Segal and Kareem Samar star in director Ismail Merchant's documentary-style drama about Pavan Pool, the workplace of Bombay's performing courtesans. By day, they sing, dance and play board games with male clientele; by night, the women ply their trade in the world's oldest profession. Merchant's film offers an unvarnished glimpse of prostitution in contemporary India. Extras include the documentary Street Musicians of Bombay.
