A young man (Victor Janson) marries a lifelike doll in order to claim his inheritance. But when the doll maker's daughter (Ossi Oswalda) starts to impersonate the doll, real love springs to life. This early Ernst Lubitsch farce is presented with a documentary of the director in Berlin. Featuring interviews with Lubitsch's daughter Nicola and director Tom Twyker, the film chronicles the German artist's life until he left for Hollywood in 1923.
