Iranian director Majid Majidi's poignant drama centers on 14-year-old Mehrollah (Hassan Sadeghi), who, after years away working to support his widowed mother and siblings, returns home and refuses to accept his new stepfather. When Mehrollah leaves for good, his stepfather goes after the boy on a dangerous trek into the desert. The film won jury prizes at three film festivals: Torino, San Sebastián and São Paulo.
