Marcel Ste. Marie (Robert Ri'chard) is one of only a few free African-Americans in 1840s New Orleans, an anomaly in a society that supports slave labor. Marcel wants to know his origins so he can decide where he's headed -- a journey that leads to more questions. Based on a novel by Anne Rice, this dramatic miniseries features a stellar cast that includes James Earl Jones, Forest Whitaker, Ossie Davis, Eartha Kitt, Pam Grier and Ben Vereen.
