The unique traditions of the Tamashek people are the focus of this annual music festival that takes place in the remote Sahara desert. In 2003, performers such as Oumou Sangare and Blackfire played against a breathtaking backdrop of endless dunes. In addition to the kaleidoscope of music, the program also features local residents performing a variety of their own cultural dances, poetry and ancient rituals such as sword fighting.
