In 1913, Robin Grant (David Robb) and his wife (Hayley Mills) relocate to colonial Kenya intent on starting a coffee plantation. But driving rains, hordes of insects and dangerous animals test their determination. Will they give up and return to England? Or will the wide-eyed wonder of their 11-year-old daughter (Holly Aird) unlock the secrets of an unfamiliar land and ease the expatriates into the joys and rewards of their adopted home?
