During Spain's civil war, a group of filmmakers travels to Nazi Germany to record a production of a hit Andalusian musical. But things turn sour when the leading lady (Penélope Cruz) tries to help a concentration camp prisoner -- who's working as an extra -- escape. Meanwhile, she's sleeping with her director (Antonio Resines) and doing her best to fend off the advances of propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels (Johannes Silberschneider).
