Struggling actor Maurice (Stéphane Freiss) gets his big break when an American director (Peter Coyote) casts him as the lead in a Yiddish film adaptation of "The Merchant of Venice." But when the part is offered to another actor, Maurice faces the dramatic challenge a lifetime -- convincing his gravely ill wife, who takes comfort in her husband's success, that he's still on the road to fame. Bérénice Bejo co-stars in this bittersweet romance.
