The life of scientist David Palmer (Dennis O'Keefe) begins to unravel when he falls in love with Cissy Lathrop (Gail Russell), the daughter of his famous trotter horse's trainer (John Hoyt). The problem? David is married, albeit unhappily, to an indifferent socialite (Ruth Warrick). As the son of a horse breeder, David can't resist the track's magnetism -- especially when Dan Patch's racing success grows, leaving David torn between two worlds.
