Spanning 69 years (from the 1871 siege of Paris to the Nazi invasion of France in 1940), Heart of a Nation depicts a Montmartre family's struggle for peace and justice in the face of oppression. Denounced in 1942 by Nazi officials as propaganda, this film was smuggled out of occupied France and brought to America, where it was reedited with narration by Charles Boyer. Stars Michèle Morgan, Louis Jouvet and Raimu. Julien Duvivier directs.
