Still haunted by the frightening events of his past (as experienced in The Hitcher), Jim Halsey (C. Thomas Howell) returns to confront his demons. He and his girlfriend, Maggie (Kari Wuhrer), soon find themselves traveling down the same desolate stretch of West Texas road where the original nightmare began. After encountering a psychotic hitchhiker (Jake Busey), their journey quickly turns into an unnerving race for survival.
