This gritty, silent drama from 1915 follows the tale of Beppo Donnetti (George Beban), an Italian immigrant shining shoes in Manhattan and hoping to save enough money to send to his fiancée, who is back in Venice. But when the couple is finally reunited in New York, they quickly discover that surviving in the slums of America demands heartbreaking sacrifices. Annette Ancello and J. Frank Burke co-star.
