The Joke

Based on a story by Milan Kundera, this comedy satirizes life in Czechoslovakia under Stalinist rule through the exploits of Ludvik Jahn (Josef Somr), who's thrown out of college and the Communist party for being a jokester. Ludvik is prescribed rehabilitation, but upon his release, seeks revenge against the man who accused him of sending a politically inappropriate postcard. Jana Ditetova and Ludek Munzar co-star.
